TAMAR TROTTERS’ MONTHLY CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

APRIL 2008

NEW CLUBHOUSE                      Sadly there is not much extra to report about the Clubhouse this month. We are still waiting for a meeting with Cornwall County Council to discuss our proposals with them. We are very keen to progress this important issue but things are out of our hands at the moment.

OUR RACES

·        The Magnificent 7, 20th July 2008.       We have not yet decided on a theme for this year’s medal so if you can think of a good idea for a design please let me know.

·        Saltash Aquathlon, 31st May 2008.       Entries for our Aquathlon event close on 18th May so if you have not entered yet please do so soon.

·        Pillaton Run       We will be organising the Pillaton Run this year, however, the date and format is not decided yet. Kevin Stiff will be the main contact for this race.

·        Kit Hill Run       Sadly it appears that the Kit Hill Run will not be happening again as the school at Callington do not wish to get involved with the event in the future.

·        Saltash Half Marathon, 4th May 2008       Our existing Race Director, Bill Phillips, will not be available to organise this event in 2009 so we will need someone else to take on the event in 2009, any volunteers?

·        Relays      The first of the summer relays is the Albaston Relays on Friday 20th June. Please consider taking part in the relay events this year, they are great fun and good for building team spirit

JUNIORS             Martin O’Connell is now in place as our new Juniors Captain. Mar            tin has some great ideas about how to develop and grow our junior’s section. We will soon be holding an open meeting for all Club members that have an interest in our Junior’s section, the meeting will be held at our Clubhouse on Monday 16th June at 7:00 p.m. and everyone is welcome to attend to contribute or just listen in.

SOCIALS / TRIPS

·        The Summer Ball has now been booked at the Duke of Cornwall hotel in Plymouth for Friday 18th July. This will be a posh do with formal dress preferred, tickets will be £28 per person. Diane is organising this event so if you have any queries please speak to her.

·        Kevin Stiff is organising the Summer Madness pub run on Saturday 12th July and is also offering a trip to Ascot for 26th July, please see Kevin if you would like to come along to this.

·        There will be a Club trip organised each year that is open to all members. Next year we will be offering a trip to the Stratford Half and Full Marathons in April 2009 and possibly a trip to a foreign race later in 2009.

CLUB STUFF

·        Most memberships have now been renewed, however there are still a few people running with the Club that have not renewed yet!

·        We are still working towards our ClubMark award; Diane is writing Risk Assessments for our Club training nights, John Smith has now consolidated all Club accounts into just three accounts with each one having duel signatories required for all cheques and Richard is producing a list of emergency contact numbers that will be kept within a safe at the Clubhouse.

·        We intend holding open meetings throughout the year for Group Leaders, Club Development and Juniors. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings, they will be advertised on our notice board and website.

·        As always I welcome all suggestions, ideas, comments and feedback.

                                                                                                Colin
