(PAC); R Warne/ S Payne (PH); A Erith; P Parritt (ECH); A Herdman (Tav); D Allen/ S Grylls (BATs); F Elford; L

Charlie Ede chaired the meeting in
the absence of N Rowe and P Ross.
Louise Oates, manager of Plymouth
City Council’s Sports Development Unit, circulated notes on the community
coaches initiatives (attached hereto).
PCC have been running coaching camps
for 8-14 year olds in the school holidays, including athletics, netball,
baseball, rugby etc. These are mainly
promoted through Plymouth schools.
There will be a two day camp 26/27 October half term.
The administration of the athletics
track and all weather pitch will shortly be transferring from the Mayflower
Centre to Brickfields. All users will
be advised accordingly. Toilets will be
unlocked by the staff at Brickfields.
LO will take the concerns re the unlocking of toilets up with the staff
concerned.
Footballers should not be going on
the track too much. James Coulton is looking at the football issue. Athletics should be the primary sport as it
has floodlights and could be used at any time.
LO has five page report on things
that have not been sorted. Bob Ivory
has said that if these things are not resolved their certification is at
risk. PCC will have agreement with IPS;
it will be IPS’s responsibility to maintain facilities.
CC to copy to LO notes of meeting he
had with Steve Snooks re various facilities.
LC would appreciate any help at the
forthcoming sports hall events. He is
taking a full Plymouth Schools team to Dawlish; hopefully they will end up in
clubs to pursue their sports.
The minutes of the previous meeting
were agreed as being a true record.
MATTERS ARISING
Track:
N Rowe contacted Pete Smith and asked him to call a user group meeting.
England Athletics:
Should have received voting forms for Members Council. NR suggested Peter Tanner would be a good
option for our area.
SW Congress:
NR voted Chair. PR looking after
road running and KR officials.
Plymouth Half Marathon:
Good piece in the paper.
Coaches Forum:
AH reported that the attendance was better than usual. Armada Team was discussed and it was
recommended that despite a disappointing performance this year, we should
continue in that league. The South West
League gives us the opportunity of more competition. We should also look to provide opportunities for those athletes
to compete with PAC in the higher leagues.
It will be up to the Forum to decide whether they want to continue to
sponsor the team. Registration into the
SW League needs to be by 30.9.06 – it was unanimously agreed to register for
the coming season.
PAC want to organise a fund raising
event in the City Centre to advertise what we are doing; this will be discussed
at the next Coaches Forum.
Coaching Courses:
First Aid Course 1.10.06, 9-5 £25/person. Names asap. PR will send
aims and objectives round to everyone.
KR is trying to put on a road
running officials course on 7.10.06, probably in Plymouth or Ivybridge. Names to KR asap.
Composite Team:
P Ross has not got an answer yet.
FAB Running Club:
Not affiliated. Apparently the
gym has gone bankrupt but the running club is still meeting.
Permits:
The new system was meant to come in on 1.1.07 but has now been put back
to March 2007 and may be delayed even further.
PAC have not pursued the Sports for
All application; they are hoping that facilities will be provided within the
£30/hour sports hall hire. Debra Carey
has emailed to advise there are grants of between £300 and £10k available from
the Sports for All scheme.
Treasurer’s Report:
£132.68 cash in hand. £8,232.85
in bank. BP suggested putting some of
the money into a savings account. JC to
investigate.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
CC: Open night at Brickfields tomorrow, including pole vault. Registration from 6 pm. Plan to carry on with these, except in January. 3K open meets to take place in November, December, February and March (2nd Tuesday in the month). AH suggested the dates and programmes be published up front in advance.
All the track bookings are being done by PAC on behalf of them and the Forum - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings. CC trying to negotiate annual or monthly fee with the Council. PAC training indoors at Brickfields on Monday and Thursday evenings.
SP: 10K at Central park is changing to an off road race on 22.7.07. Possibly around Yelverton/Roborough area, depending on permission from National Parks. Alternatively it will be a 10K in the Brickfields area.
AH: Tavy 7 entry forms available – 12.11.06. The entry fee has been raised purely in an effort to raise funds for the track at Tavistock College.
FE: Thanks to everyone who helped at Jeremiah’s Journey - £800+ made. All help appreciated for the Autumn Trail.
CE: Santa Run is still on.
Saltram 5K – thanks to everyone who helped on the day. Disappointed that some club runners were spectating and could have helped on the day.
Club contact list updated – NR is taking it to a big schools event.
AGM - nominations for Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Press Officer. Need to discuss the Forum as a working group. It is likely that NR and PR will stand down.
Road race meeting 23.9.06 7.30 – 9 pm at Exeter clubhouse.
Hoe 10 – last year’s entry fees £6 affiliated/£8 non-affiliated. If we can’t get sponsor for water we will put price up by £1 to cover provision of bottled water at water station. PR would like representative from each club to attend pre-Hoe 10 meeting 9.10.06 @ 7 pm.
Craig Wigglesworth, formerly of PAC, now competing for Plymouth Tri Club who are not affiliated.
Adam Holland, 1st claim Tavistock, 2nd claim East Cornwall Harriers. He cannot claim team prize when running for ECH.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING
9 October 2006 at Windsor House. AGM will be held at 7.30 and the normal meeting will follow on. Don’t forget Hoe 10 pre-meeting 7 pm.
