MATTERS
ARISING
User Group
Meeting: Board of IPS not yet finalised so bid cannot
happen yet.
Plymouth Half
Marathon: Entries will be going live on 18 October
2006. Clubs and specialist running
shops will get paper copies. There is
no increase in price for next year.
Composite Team: KR has registered
the Armada Team in the SW league for next season. League’s AGM on
27.10.06. KR had meeting with PAC;
basically agreed to try and become composite team for other 3 leagues in PAC. Waiting to find out if leagues accept
that. Cost will be £30/team. Any interested clubs would be able to put
their athletes in to that team. Names
to KR asap as it has to be in by the end of this month. All agreed that the Forum pay the £90 entry
fees.
First Aid
Course – 1.10.06: Email received from CC seeking £262
towards the running of the above course which he claims was held following
requests from Forum clubs at the coaches meeting, none of which turned up. As no-one present requested such a course NR
will go back to PAC and say that the Forum is not prepared to meet this
request.
Hoe 10: 18.2.07. Entry fees up by £1 due to bottled water
being used. The route will remain the
same. Devon and Cornwall will be
competing for the Peninsula Cup (teams of 8 men, 6 to count; 6 ladies, 4 to
count). Pete Furley giving
trophies. PR will approach Albion to
use their facilities. Prize structure
changed slightly in respect of categories in the upper ages. We have a working committee but it would be
useful to have a representative from each club. Sponsors for the water stations would be appreciated.
ANY OTHER
BUSINESS
DH: Suggested the Forum contact PCC to suggest putting “running lanes” on the Hoe (white lines!) in an effort to get people interested in running and to promote athletics.
DC: Thanked the Forum for their continued support of events.
LC: Circulated a summary of how the sports hall events went. LC has no real budget for this. 42 children going to the Dawlish event. Coach and uniform have to be paid for and any sponsorship would be appreciated. First event on Sunday. DML Sports and Social Club are hoping to help.
PP: Envisaged that a scheme such as Lance’s would be a worthwhile scheme for the Forum to support.
It was proposed that the Forum donated £500 to the scheme
Proposed by: C Bunting
Seconded by: S Rose
Schools involved in the events put money into a pot which will be used for the coaches.
KR: 3K Series – first one tomorrow night. KR is happy to officiate but would like help with entries. Need to clarify who is doing what. PR has word from CC that PAC are administering 3K meeting in November. KR will contact PAC.
AE: Cornish Marathon (18.11.06) entry forms available.
AH: Tavy 7 on 12.11.06. Re price hike, it is to raise funds for a track at Tavistock College. 1.1.07 Bedford Mile – want to get 100 people to run with £100 sponsorship each.
M Exley: As Sales and Marketing Manager for Brooks, we are visiting six cities from January to March running training sessions. Plymouth is the first Sunday of every month at Burrator. We will provide coaching for marathons etc. Coaches from Tavistock are helping; help from others appreciated. None-club runners are welcome.
SR: Children in Need treadmill event at Morrisons, Plymstock on 17.11.06.
ME: Congratulations to Frank Elford for the Autumn Trail.
JC: DML Santa Run – 250 entered so far. Contrary to rumours it is not yet full.
PR: FE sent in his thanks for help at the Autumn Trail. £1,600/1,700 will be going to St Lukes.
Road running meeting 23.10.06. All welcome. 7.30 pm at Exeter Harriers’ club house.
Drawing up some promotional material for the Forum. FJ advised that Marjons have a degree course in promotions. FJ will try and find out if someone would like to take it on as a project.
NR: PAC are training at sports hall and the equipment is not sufficient. They suggested we store the sports hall equipment at Brickfields but this is not satisfactory as anyone could use it and it is not secure. The Forum offered PAC an interest free loan to purchase sports hall equipment but they haven’t responded.
PAC requested support for two Level 2 coaches and three Level 1. NR feels we should review our policy as they are not linking into the Forum coaching structure. If we are going to be part of the regional development plan, we will need to breakdown coaches and our clubs. We will discuss reviewing the policy at the next meeting.
LC: Advised PAC that he doesn’t have a problem with them using the equipment but is not happy to leave it at Brickfields as there is no dedicated storage.
DATE OF NEXT
MEETING
