MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON 10 NOVEMBER 2008

Minutes of previous meeting: Agreed with one amendment: C Carpenter was not at meeting but forwarded his apologies

 

Actions from previous meeting:

Obtain Domain Name and update web site. AH apologised and was hoping to move it forward soon. – Action still outstanding AH.

 

Brickfields:

Some changes since last report. Steeplechase pit is still leaking, Hammer Cage now sorted. Announcers hut is still in a bad way - PCC aware. PAC investigating alternative replacements with possible use of portacabins. PCC Sports Facilities and Development document received that was strong on words but weak on proposed actions. Strategy questionnaire received – to be actioned. CC trying to arrange a meeting with Louise Oates and is still awaiting a reply on issues from Clive Thomas.

Letter tabled at meeting from UKA on track facilities and certification gave cause for concern.

Action: Complete Sports Strategy questionnaire - PR

 

PSF meeting: Next meeting 18/11 1830 at Windsor House. Any volunteers to attend?

Action: All

 

Life Centre: Presentation to be given on 10/12 1800 at Council House.

 

Web site: Still awaiting update from AH

Actions: Low maintenance info to be sent to AH – ALL

 

Finance: £4,682.41 in bank. £1.23 Cash.

 

Clock:

Old clock with ECH. New with Tavistock – New Clock blown over at Tavy 7 – no damage reported. On return try to adapt for larger 12 volt battery. Agreed to allow hire of clock by GWR.

 

Sportshall League: Plymstock continue to lead league with EVH, Plymouth AC and Tavistock following. Devon County Sportshall Champs on 26 November

 

Composite team – Armada Forum – Registration for Composite Clubss and Southern Mens League and Young Athletes League now required.

 

EA Affiliation – Issues now seem to be resolved with Club Competitors having now received their Competition Licence cards.

 

Saltram 5K – Agreed distance would be set at 5K and event would be part of summer 5K series. Plymstock to manage for Forum

 

KR: XC Relay event at Flete Estate – thanks for support. Appeared to be enjoyed by all. Date issues will hopefully be cleared up for next year.

 

JC: Santa Pud Run (14/12) filling up with > 60 places remaining.

 

AE: Cornish Marathon – 25th Anniversary 16 November.

 

LC: Lance is concerned on the future funding for his post. Athletics Network mentoring for coaches happening. Clubs Training Info Required. PAC and Plymstock RR School-Club Link info required.

CB: Tamar Trotters have now introduced a Junior Session. Looking for competition for U11’s

 

DH: Looking for support of coaches to work with him on training sessions on Tuesday afternoons at Brickfields for runners that need escorts plus escorts in Road Races. Contact DH direct. FJ suggested that DH try contacting Marjons for help from students.

PR:

Information on Clubs required for Armada Forum Flyer - STILL – Name of Club, Meeting Times/Venues, Club Contact details, Website. Action – BATS/Plymouth Muskateers. Any photos to enhance leaflet would be welcomed Action ALL .

Sportshall Equipment received – LC to supply receipt docs Action LC - complete

 

SW Region Inter Counties 10K Champs held 09/11 in Wiltshire. Devon 1st Men and 2nd Ladies, Cornwall 2nd Men and 3rd Ladies.

Plymouth Muskateers have not affiliated to Devon County.

 

 

 

 

Hoe 10 2009 – Date set for 15 February 2009.  M&J Elliott, (agreed to support).

Brooks agreed to sponsor. Entry Form now sorted and will be distributed shortly. Athletes EA Competition Number required or full entry fee to pay. Fun Run entries only available on the day. All other aspects of the event in hand. Devon County 10 Mile Champs and hosting Peninsula Challenge.

Logo for Forum – Given the change of name for the Forum Group we should look at a change of Logo. Suggestions and designs are invited Action – All

Nothing forthcoming – Talk with Allister Bristow to amend original

 

Burrator Run: Boxing Day 1100 from the dam – same format as previous years regarding presents. Please car share and park sensibly.

 

Athletics Networks EA see the forming of Network Groups are the way forward within Athletics. Funding has been secured to support this initiative. We are in a good position to bid for funding as we are seen as one of the leaders in this area in the Country. Our achievements to date paper “Cluster Group in Action” circulated at the EA SW Region Congress this year has been forwarded to EA as an example of best practice. We as a group need to submit a bid but to substantiate the bid we need to incorporate some new initiatives. Ideas are sought from the member clubs by 24/10. Only club response was from PAC. Bid submitted for £32K – bid includes some self help through the Forum and support from member clubs.

Initiatives: Recruit Coach Co-ordinator, U9-U13 Trophy Meetings, Quad Kids Comps. 3K and/or 5K Park series, Support for Armada T&F team. Grow links with University, Marjons and others etc

Awaiting response on bid.

POST MEETING NOTE

 

Bid Phase 2 paperwork received for submission along with Business plan and development plan by 01 December.

Six bids submitted by groups within the South West Region – numerous others still being worked on.
