MATTERS ARISING

There was one club that objected to the composite club.

SW Road Running Development EGM not in Birmingham.

Track:  PR - All lines are down.  All distances are on.  Lights are working, but there is a problem with the supply for the lights.  Changing room at north end of the track was planned to finish at the end of this month but stalled until 19.12.05 due to gas supply for showers.

SE – lights were not put in to cover the centre field, just the track.  This limits what events can be covered in an evening meeting.

3K Series on the Track:  Meeting this month postponed earlier this month.  Now 30.11.05 – apologies to those who did not get the message.

Plymouth Hoe 10:  50+ entries.  Medals ordered.  Support organisations contacted.  Full complement of management staff.  Marshals needed.  Advertised in running press and websites but it would be helpful if anyone is going to races to take along forms.

AAA of England EGM at Birmingham:  For those clubs that did vote, some proposals were – one that they kept the name “AAA of England”, 2nd that they own the right to AAAs championships.  There was some anger by some of the attendees that there was not a proposal to wind up AAA and transfer to England Athletics Limited.  Hence a further EGM on 10.12.05 in Derby.

Use of Equipment:  PAC organising it.  Hope to have hurdles out.  Should be in the arrangements.

Finance:  Cash in hand £1.10 and £7,159.89 in the bank.

Sports Hall Event:  LC – Plymouth final held last Monday.  Thanks to DML and PRR for their help.  Langley Juniors won and they will be going to the finals in Dawlish this Sunday.  N Rowe thanked LC and Debbie for their help.

Official Opening of Lights:  Herald want to do a piece when it is sorted.

AGM of SW League:  Two fixtures at Yeovil and 3 at Exeter.  Affiliation fees same as last year.  First event first week in May.

SEAA at Bicton College:  28.1.06 – entry forms out today, need to be back by 13.12.05.  This is a chance for local athletes to run in a big competition.  We need athletes to go along.  We also need help leading up to the event.  The course needs to be laid.  Officials needed; names to Keith Reed by the end of November.

Bids for Courses:  Bids received from PRR for 3 level 1 and PAC 1 level 2 and 1 level 3.

PA System:  Had one quote, awaiting 2nd quote.

24 Hour Run Around the Track:  Reduced to 12 hours to coincide with Children in Need.  However, unlikely to go ahead as Children in Need is this Friday and nothing has been arranged.

Half Marathon:  Forms out and 1700 entries received so far.

Foster Report Vote:  Governments of Athletics won – 3 got voted in, membership voted out.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

L Chatfield organised officials in running and walking course - £50 at Saltash Community College on 11.12.05.  Forms back to LC ASAP.

B Phillips – has anyone had guaranteed entries back from London?  Some have.

S Payne – still keen  on doing endurance nights at Brickfields on Tuesdays.  Hopefully will start the Tuesday after the 3K event.

K Reed – update on officials.  PR and KR attended level 2 officials day.  Systems are changing.  About to launch new level 2 officials award with no specific exam; very much mentoring based and self assessment based.  Should be taking places sometime in the spring.  Currently only covers track and field.

C Ede – introduced Barry Williams, DML’s Vice Chairman.

S Rose – PRR will be at Morrisons doing their treadmill challenge for Children in Need, 12 noon – 9 pm.

K Rogers – re the 3K, are there prizes for people in a series of age categories?  Yes.  PR confirmed it will be the same format as Exeter.  Track rules; spikes can be worn.  Entries begin from 6 pm in PAC clubhouse.

P Ross –

§           Coaches Forum – seems to be very well organised.  Karen Sutton produces the minutes.  Next meeting on Monday at 7.30 pm at Windsor House.  Looking for nominees for the Chairmanship.  Website – armadaathleticscoaches.org.uk

§           Boxing Day – same format as previous years at Burrator.

§           Current state of athletics – lots of emails flying around.  SW Road Running meeting on Saturday.
