MATTERS ARISING

Track:  Access into changing provision now available but no key with PAC or Forum. Meeting to be held 15 May to discuss Albions Planning Application to extend stand. Likelihood is that PAC will object and proposed that the Forum/Clubs do the same. Decision held pending outcome of meeting. PCC have confirmed that controls will be put in place for the use of the track for all. How is this to be policed??  Propose sign erected to advise how to book track. University and other groups now using regularly – are they being charged? Track etiquette needs to be instilled in some of the user groups.

England Athletics: Nominations for Council Members date extended until the end of the month before the sift is carried out by interim regional chairs and voting papers produced and circulated.

N Rowe, P Ross and K Reed have all put their names forward to serve on the SW committee.

SW Congress: Good attendance with some good discussion. Feedback papers to be produced and circulated by Sonya. This will form the basis to develop athletics in the SW.

Congratulations to local winners in the UK:A  Clubs Future presentations that took place at the meeting; Graham Reed, Jayne Reed, Paul Ross. The Forum received a cheque for £500 as part of it’s award as Partnership of the Year

Plymouth Half Marathon: Record entry, Still looking for more marshals/helpers. If your club members are coming along please advise on road closures, parking restrictions, access routes to the Hoe etc. Paul will advertise the Forum and Club events if info is passed to him.

Coaches Forum: Date of next meeting 9.6.06 to be held at Brickfields. Attendance figures have dropped off, please encourage your Club coaches to attend and have an input into this group. Level 1 Coaches course to be held 1st July.

Press:  A press officer to liaise with the media on behalf of the Forum is still being sought.

Finance:  J Crockford reported we have £8443 in the bank.

South West League Meeting: Keith reported that there had been very poor support for the Armada team at the first SW Meeting. It was disappointing and frustrating that there was no “buy in” to the team from some of the Forum Clubs. The support was less than that of last year with the standard of competition greatly improved in the League the Forum team are now in. Keith will review the support for this season and if there is no improvement will propose that the team be disbanded. The next meetings are on Sunday 28 May and Sunday 2 July.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

K Reed: Ivybridge 10K is full. Ivybridge Relays 7th July – forms available

L Chatfield: Links with schools. All meetings are advertised through schools with posters produced etc. Problem is Teachers/School Sports Co-ordinators buy in. Advertise through press council. Will “Elevating Athletics” course help? Maybe not as there is a cost to the school to send trainees.

G French: Could we sponsor a few events with the profits we have?  Will be discussed again in respect of sponsoring school events etc.

C Carpenter: Evening Meetings at Brickfields Tuesday 9 May and Tuesday 13 June – Register from 6pm start 6-55pm to include distance races.

Devon County T&F Champs – Brickfields 13/14 May – help required. Agreed that the Forum would purchase a gazebo style tent for use at events (Price circa £70) this could be used for officials at the Champs plus all other events put on by clubs.

Young athletes meeting – 29 May 1100

Training kit – monies available – talk with Sonya.

F Jenkins: Sam Penny Scenic Challenge 11 June

S Rose: Duckponds 8 July
