Brickfields: Floodlights levels will be 200 Lux. Footing and trenching for new
sub station will be starting imminently. It has been agreed that retexturing
pof the track will not start until 25 July earliest.
Composite Club: K Reed that Downs of Mary Tavy will be used for transporting
athletes to SW League matches with pick ups in Tavistock, Plymouth and
Ivybridge. Unfortunately as the first event is such a distance the first pick
up will be 0630. Athlete availability lists will need to be submitted at least
1 week before meetings to Keith/Graham Reed. Spring warm up meeting on 3rd
April and the first Devon League meeting will be used for selection purposes.
Vests are currently being sorted. Thanks were extended to Keith and Graham for
the work put in to enable the Composite Club to come to fruition.
Coaching: Mike advised that the meeting on 28th February was
poorly attended. For those that did attend they enjoyed a rewarding night with
a presentation by Jim Denison on athletics in Ethiopia and the life of Haile
Gabrselaise. Sonya Ellis gave a presentation on Coach mentoring which was an
eye opener to attendees. It was questioned why there was such a low attendance
at meetings from Level 1 coaches. The next meeting will be at Windsor House on
Monday 25th April at 7-30. The committee were invited to attend.
Hoe 10: P Ross thanked all for their support and assistance, particularly
the race committee, in another successful event. Feedback from athletes had
been mainly positive. A wash up meeting had been held prior to the Forum
meeting. The Inter County Challenge had added an extra dimension to the event
with a strong field at the front end of the field. Team Cornwall won the Men’s
event and Team Devon won the Ladies event. Letters of thanks have been sent to
all supporters of the event. It was agreed to donate £200 to St John Ambulance.
The event is the Forums main fund raising event of the year and it is estimated
that this year event would show approx £2K profit although there are still some
bills to pay
South of
England/AAA: Update meeting on the Foster Report took
place on 19th February. The meeting was hosted by Jack Buckner and
Peter Radcliffe. There was nothing new that came from the meeting. The meeting
was advised of progress to date, and the plan for the implementation of the
rest of the report for England Athletics to be in place for April 2006. A
membership scheme will be introduced, this is key for the release of the legacy
funding.
Plymouth Half
Marathon: The race is full. The USMC will again be challenging the RM/RN team at the event.
Anyone willing to help on the day were asked to contact Paul Ross or Nigel
Rowe.

10 Monies – where/how to spend asked B Phillips. Nigel explained that we need
to look at our development plan and if necessary rewrite it with at least a
three year look ahead. This development plan needs to knit into Club/Devon and
Cornwall County and Regional Development plans.
AAA
AGM is due to be held on 19 March where the ERRA are proposing they be given
power to manage Road Running in England which includes changes to unaffiliated
race levies. What is not clear are their proposals for what will happen to the
extra generated revenue. It is felt that the majority will be used to fund
elite athletes attending International events. The ERRA claim that it was
democratically formed at the 2004 AAAofE AGM. It has been established that the
formation was not an Agenda item nor was it discussed at the meeting. The
formation of the ERRA has been challenged by many representatives from within
RR. Unfortunately no local representation will be at the AGM in Leeds.
SEAA
Permit Secretaries Meeting – Paul Ross will be attending – ERRA and unattached
levy increases on agenda plus numerous
other issues.
