Apologies:            C McGhee; C Bunting; G French; S Rose; J Elliott

Brickfields:  Contractors on site. C Carpenter reported that according to recent press report Albion wish to build a new stone stand between their ground and the track and asked what impact this will have on long jump area. Meeting being arranged between PAC and Steve Snookes to discuss this and the resiting of a clubhouse alongside the track.

Nigel stated that he had received no feedback on winter use of track and emphasised that we now need to put some days in the diary with PCC or football could get a foothold on days we would like. Albion are also showing an interest in using the centre of the track but requests are currently being refused. P Harriers would like Tuesdays at 1930 with interest from approx 20 members but expect that number to grow. COPAC plan to use but not yet decided but probably Tuesday and Thursday, Saturday mornings 10-12 to continue. Agreed to hold a 3K series similar to Exeter’s series with 3 races one in November, February and March on a Wednesday evening. Concern over facilities to support in adverse weather.

Last Wednesday 1 person showed up but there was confusion over who was going to be at the track.

Composite Club: Keith reported that the second fixture was much better supported than the first and Armada Forum won the competition and are currently third in the League. Yesterday was the SW League Cup and although verification is required it is believed that we won the Division 2 Cup. Thanks to all who took part. The next fixture is at Exeter on Sunday 3 July (our host fixture) help would be appreciated and a good turn out by athletes would be appreciated as the previous day is the SW Schools Championships so this might affect numbers available to compete. There appears to be a good atmosphere and team spirit with the athletes representing Armada.

Coaching:  Next meeting 20.6.05. Coaches Forum confirmed on 2.7.05 11.30 am – 3.00 pm at Brickfields where we will discuss warm up drills, sprints, hurdles and Steeplechase.  Please encourage coaches to come along.  There will be a small charge to those attending with Invited Coaches being covered for their expenses.

Mike Erith added that it is key to encourage level 1 +2 coaches to attend the session on 2nd July. Plan to put schedule on Tavistock AC web site under the Armada AF link.

Locks have been changed at Brickfields so we no longer have access. Nigel will try to obtain a new set or get an assurance that the Gates will be opened in good time for us to use the facilities when booked.

Half Marathon: Many thanks to all who supported by taking part or assisting on the day. Feedback had been very positive. Wash up meeting to be held 15 June. Any feedback from meeting would be welcomed.

Police and Potential Charging: Results from Questionnaire are not yet collated.

Finance: J Crockford advised we have £7,934.32 in the bank plus £64.10 cash. £300-00 in cheques had yet to be cashed, 2 to St Johns and 1 to Saltram Park. 2 x  Final demand invoices had been received from PCC but it has not been made clear what the invoices are for. John will try and sort with the Council

Following a meeting between John, Paul and Nigel as a result of requested support at the last meeting the following was proposed:

Coaching – Committee need to understand the position of member clubs and their existing coach structure and qualifications – despite numerous requests this information has not been forthcoming from some clubs.

Award 50% of he cost of the course on establishing the above. Payment to be made on the basis of 25% on agreement of request and the 25% balance on applying for the next level of coaching qualification.

The Forum would consider requests for financial assistance to bring into the area specific “Lead Coaches” in all disciplines as and when the need arises.

Note – Similar financial support should be made available to attend Officials Courses.

No “double dipping” will be supported (financial requests on Forum and any other sources).

Armada AC – The Forum will contribute to the establishment of Armada AC by subsidising team travel costs. There is a need, prior to the next meeting to establish the athlete/club contribution to date for travel. Graham has a table of breakdown of number of athletes/clubs represented etc he will bring to next meeting.

The proposal met with no objections

Officials: K Reed happy to hold a level one course in Plymouth if there is sufficient interest. Contact Keith if interested. Level two course still in pilot stage at present.

Course measurers course confirmed.  Two interested from this area.

Young Athletes Meeting – 200 entries – thanks for assistance received. Paul R questioned value of trophies awarded given the numbers entered. Chris stated that it was a matter of availability as the order was left until late in the hope of finding a sponsor.

P Ross – SW Inter County Challenge – currently proposed as Taunton Half Mara – traditionally held 2 weeks prior to London – the meeting felt that this would have an affect on standard of teams if athletes were preparing run London. The GWR was not thought to be a good alternative as athletes that had run London would still be recovering. More discussion required.
