Carpenter/K Rogers (PAC); (ECH); S Rose/D Dane (Plstk RR); A Erith (ECH);

Apologies: N Rowe; C Bunting; P Tabener; C Ede; M Erith
Updating information on clubs. Please circulate and advise P Ross of any
amendments.
Track: Shut from 25.7.05.
Contractors now on site. New
pavilion under construction. Clearing
site for substation. Cabling in for
lights.
C Carpenter had meeting on site with Steve Snooks of
PCC. Changing block going up. Asked for 2nd javelin throwing
area. Also asked for back straight to
be 100m sprint. No comeback yet. Looking at moving clubhouse closer to the
track. Not sure when due to re-open. Contractor wants four weeks of decent
weather.
Composite Club: K Reed advised we are now 2nd overall. A coach will be going to the last fixture in
Yeovil on 4.9.05. Might get
promotion. Have won Division 2
cup. Still need more competitors.
A Herdman advised we have doubled the fixtures for
the season which is good for those who interested. Not full range of events.
Good quality competition. Clubs
have gelled well together.
G Reed considered if we were promoted we will need a
bigger turn out of people. Young
Athletes moved from April to October.
P Ross thanked everyone for their help in getting it
off the ground and for the success.
Police and
Potential Charging: We were not charged for the
Plymouth Half Marathon but bought in traffic wardens and had more
specials. The Great West Run were
charged £2k. Dartmoor Vale Marathon
were charged £1k, despite being told it would be the same as last year
(£700). We are led to believe Torbay
also paid, together with charges for road closures.
Finance: J Crockford advised we have £6,719.32 in the bank plus £44.10
cash and a cheque from Launceston for hire of the clock. Been having problems with invoices from
Plymouth City Council; being charged for using the track out of bookable
hours. Do we agree that we only use the
track for the hours that we book it so thats all we have to pay for? JC suggested that they ask for names. However, PCC say they cant do that because
the Devonport Regeneration Company can use it at any time and they are not
allowed to confront them. PAC are also
experiencing this problem.
Bookings for winter months do not yet know the
cost of the floodlit facility.
Forum will book on Saturday mornings, 10-12. and
Tuesdays 6-7. PAC will continue to use
on Thursdays.
3K Series: 9.11.05, 8.2.06 and 8.3.06 booked track for 2 hours 7-9.
Hoe 10: 22.2.05.
Course
Measurers Course: We have now got a course
measurer John Crockford! Believe we
now have four in the Devon area. Chris
Markle is now back in circulation.
Website: Being produced by Carol Sutton, attached to Tavistock
website.
B Phillips Magnificent 7 on Sunday. Entries to be in by Friday.
F Jenkins asked if anyone else had a letter from
Association of British Athletics Clubs.
P Ross discussed the initial letter a couple of months ago.
A Herdman entries available for Tavy Relays this
Thursday. Entries on the day (teams of
4).
K Reed thanks to everyone who turned up for EVH
relays 52 teams competed. Beacon
Challenge forms now available.
Devon League in Plymouth thanks to those who
helped, especially Chris Carpenter and Julie.
Does the Forum want to get involved with hosting this event next
year? PR Suggest yes! Need to show PCC that the track will be well
used and we will be supporting it. However,
if we are hosting it we need people there on the day, together with more
officials.
Are people aware that South of England Vets are at
Exeter this year 26.7.05.
South of England cross country championships 30.1.06
in Exmouth. Looking for people to help
out with that.
Grand Prix results have been done up until Scenic
Challenge. Magnificent 7 will be last
one.
It was agreed that due to dwindling interest the
Grand Prix Series will be cancelled for next year. PR to speak to Frank Elford.
S Rose thanks to everyone who came to the
Duckponds. Special thanks to Colin,
Keith and Jane for their help. There was
a record entry.
P Ross Neil Tweedy is trying to sort out the SW
Inter-County Challenge. Taunton Half
Marathon on 2.4.06 is a possibility.
Meeting of all counties at the beginning of August when it will be
discussed.
Saltram 5K 3.9.05. Entries available. Help
required.
Cornwall Cross Country Championships concerned
that Devon is not very well supported.
Suggestion to amalgamate Devon and Cornwall. The problem would be venue Plymouth, Tavistock or Launceston
may be suitable but decent facilities would be needed. In principle it is a good step forward.
Devon County 10K Championships P Furley is trying
to put it together at Exeter on 7.9.05.
3 races.
12 September 2005.
