MINUTES OF EAST CORNWALL AND WEST DEVON ATHLETIC FORUM

HELD ON 8th JULY 2002

Hoe 10: How to spend the profit? Agreed to spend to a limit of £500 on the following items: Addabox loudhailer from Brandon, Traffic cones, Standard PVC, Bibs for Race Director, Race Official etc and investigate insurance for Race Clock..

Clock is now covered under DML’s insurance. Mike Erith suggested the purchase of a large cold water tank, to be sited at the end of races to allow runners to cool legs after a hard run.

 

Plymouth Half Marathon: A very good report of the race has been printed in the months Runners World Magazine. Planning for next years race is well in hand.

 

Track Meeting 10th July: All Plymouth schools have been invited. Officials and helpers will be required and all member clubs were encouraged to sell the meeting to their membership. Entry fee SOp each to purchase a number. Programme starting at 6‑30pm to include: 80M ‑ U1 1 B's &G's; 1 OOM ‑ All ages ex U 11; 600M ‑ U 11 B's & G's; 800M ‑ All ages ex U1 I's; 150M ‑ U11 B's & G's; 200M ‑ all ages ex U1 1's; Long Jump ‑ all ages; High Jump ‑ all ages (max, 6 jumps); Shot Putt ‑ U 13 upwards; Cricket Ball U 11 B's & G's; the evening will finish with a 30 minute Paarlauf Relay ‑ teams of 2 ‑ U 15 upwards.

 

Race for Life: Many thanks to all who helped or marshalled, more help will be needed next year.

 

Devon Youth Games: Very successful, well done to Keith for the organisation. Keith thanked all who had helped and supported the event.

 

Affiliated Clubs: A list of Devon affiliated clubs was passed out (thanks to Paul). There was a request for a list of Cornish Clubs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Any other business: 

 

SEAACross Country Championships: Exmouth Harriers are to host the SEAA XC Champs at Bicton Park in January 2003. This is a coup for the club and the South West and gives local athletes the chance to run against some of the top XC runners in the country.

 

Clock: A cheque for £150 has been received from Teignbridge Trotters, for the clock hire.

 

Great North Run: Plymouth Harriers are running a trip ‑ Bob Bell is the contact. Race is full.

 

IS Race: 28th July entry form are available.

 

SEAA Registration : A long debate took place ref the planned meeting at Exeter to discuss the proposed SEAA registration fee for athletes. (A post meeting report will be given at the next forum meeting.)
