ANY OTHER BUSINESS
C
Bunting advised there are places available on a Fitness in Running and Walking
Course on 12th March at St Austell.
B
Phillips advised he is Race Director for the Saltash Half Marathon – forms
available.
D
Dane reported that their youngsters’ cross country is continuing to flourish.
K
Reed has entry forms for Ivybridge 10K – no entries on the day.
M
Carpenter advised that Launceston Road Runners are now members of the
Forum. The club is hoping to put on a
race in early May 2006. P Ross advised
that this was a busy period for races and it might be useful to look at a
different time.
P
Ross reported:
§
By
now every club should have received notification of SEAA AGM. Please vote! They are the organisation promoting the £2 unattached levy which
does not go back to the club but towards international events.
§
Permit
Secretaries’ meeting planned for early April.
P Ross going so if anybody wants anything raised let him know. On the agenda – medical aspects of road
running, safety officers etc. N Rowe advised that the Council department
dealing with things like this is likely to be wrapped up. If the Police become involved in such
aspects, the organising club will have to buy into that or the race cannot go
ahead. They have not yet been able to
find anyone to give us a price for this service and it looks as though we will
have to go through a contractor. The
Council would charge £43/hour simply for personnel. In Bristol last year they had to pay £30k for total road closure
– hence the £23 entry fee.
§
Had
previously reported that we were not having a race series in Devon, however,
Pete Furley is putting one together under the cover of Ironbridge Runner. Details can be found on www.devonroadraceseries.co.uk
.
§
There
is a new club in the area – Bere Alston Treckers – now affiliated.
§
There
is a proposed restructuring to bring officials in line with track and field
officials. Discussions with UKA next
week.
§
Officials
will have to transfer to go onto the new structure – K Reed has transfer forms.
§
Road
course measurers course being held in Exeter on 21st and 22nd
May. If any Forum member is interested
no doubt this could be subsidised. S Payne advised that he knows a bike course
measurer and will have a word with him.
N
Rowe reported re the IOC visit. Please
visit the 2012 website – www.2012.org. There is a MORI poll and it is important
that people show their interest and this will have considerable sway in the
decision making procedures. Regardless
of whether or not we get the 2012 games sport in general will benefit from a
stash of money that will go into the public domain.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING
14th March 2005.
