The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed as being a true record.

MATTERS ARISING

Brickfields:  Work on the east stand is soon to start.  WEF today one of the long jump pits will be unavailable until the end of June.

NR has spoken with Clive Turner, Director of Community Services, Plymouth City Council.  CT agreed to discuss the situation with the Forum but things have moved on apace without any discussion taking place.  NR has written to CT and copied in councillors.

The stand is out of bounds to anyone wearing spikes.  It will be available this Sunday for spectators and runners.

No decision on whether we will use Brickfields on a Tuesday or Wednesday will be taken until after tomorrow’s open night.  J McGhee supported use of the venue on Tuesday nights.

Devon League:  29.4.07 and August bookings in Plymouth have been confirmed.

Plymouth Half Marathon:  Entry full with the exception of a few charity places.  A few British elite athletes have been invited but no responses have been received as yet.  The US Marine Corps are coming over again.

Hoe 10:  Virtually everything in place.  Please encourage members to use the bottom car park first

England Athletics:  Notes circulated explaining the issues.  All clubs will have to submit to EA a list of club members over the age of 11 who compete in races.  They will send a list for you to check and once this has been confirmed they will send out registration cards to individual athletes.  There is a meeting at Exeter Golf and Country Club on 27.2.07 at 7 pm where John Temperton will answer our questions and concerns.  The passing on of members’ personal information was discussed – this question will no doubt be raised on the 27th.

3K Series:  Due to the low number competing it is considered not too many prizes will be required.  Regrettably the events haven’t been supported as well in 2006.  There will be an event on 13.3.07 which will include either a 5K or 2K.

Finance:  £9,355.75 in bank and £109.69 cash.

Composite Club:  Looks like it can be done.  NR had feedback from UKA which looks favourable.  Still awaiting another response and once this is known we will email around.  KR needs to discuss with PAC how we will administer this team.  This is useful for some of our promising young athletes to experience a higher level of competition.

Road Running Leadership Group:  Gordon Robbins didn’t get on which is a shame.  N Rowe is on the group; hopefully he will represent grass roots road runners.

Coaching Requests:  The application form has now been produced and should be with clubs now.

Brooks Sunday Runs:  Going well.  Over 100 attended at the beginning of this month.  They are passing out lists of clubs in the area.  Next meeting 1.4.07.

Bedford Mile:  Tavistock want 1,000 people to raise sponsorship to run a mile and raise £100,000.

Cross Country:  S Rose said it went very well.  Next event 9.3.07 at Goosewell.

London Marathon:  Places still available on DML trip.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

B Phillips:

§           TT club member had their guaranteed entry return as it allegedly didn’t arrive in time despite being posted early enough.

§           Saltash Half Marathon entry forms are available for the event on 6.5.07.

F Jenkins:  FJ contacted Marjons who organise projects for their students at least a year in advance.  P Ross will get in touch with a printing firm in Plympton which apparently is very reasonable.  TT use a company in Saltash which is also very reasonable which we can look at.

K Reed:

§           Ivybridge 10K forms available on website.

§           Trying to set up a Level 2 officials course in Devon.  Date tbc.

P Ross:

§           Received email from Karen about Coaches Forum meeting on 9.2.07 which only 5 people attended.  Karen and Ron Blank feel the group is not making any progress and are considering tendering their resignation.  JMcG suggested that chairmen should nominate someone to attend each meeting.  KR suggested that they hold their meetings as a pre-meeting to the monthly Forum meeting.  PR will put these ideas to Karen.

§           Devon County AGM on 21.2.07 at 7.15 pm at Exeter Harriers club house.  Refreshments available from 6.30.  Presentation about SW region by N Rowe and Sonia Ellis.

§           Permit Secretaries’ Meeting:  17.2.07.  P Ross can’t make it due to the Hoe 10 preparations but is being represented by Gordon Robbins.

§           SW Region of Athletics Conference 11.3.07:  Dinner on 10.3.07 at Exeter Golf and Country Club.  Workshops and seminars on the 11.3.07.  Update from N Rowe and Sonia Ellis on where we are and what we’ve done.  Will be looking at regional athletics plan.

§           Teign Valley Running Club:  New club in Devon.  Already put on Teign Valley Toddle and plan to put on another event.  They are running a trip to Cyprus for the Aphrodite Marathon if anyone is interested.

§           Grizzly is postponed ‘til 9.9.07.

§           Seaton Half Marathon cancelled.

§           SW Road Running meeting 24.4.07 – need rep from Cornwall.

§           New SW website linked from England Athletics website.

§           Robert Willcocks, triathlete from PAC has been picked to represent GB and is seeking sponsorship.  It was decided to donate £200.
