The minutes of 14 March 2005 were approved.

Brickfields:  Waiting on Western Power to install sub-station etc.  As soon as they have a break in their programme that work will start.  Equipment coming on site for the commission of the community hall and external toilet black.  As soon as Albion’s last game has gone work will start.

C Carpenter – lane 1 out of action due to hurdles.  Asked them to move the tarpaulins but apparently they cannot be moved.  N Rowe will take this up with the Council.  Officials stand not replaced.

Composite Club:  K Reed said it is looking good.  First fixture on 24.4.05.  New kit arrived.  A Herdman has set up website with a link from Tavistock’s website to Armada AF.  K Reed thanked the Forum for supporting the initiative.  N Rowe thanked Keith and Graham for getting it off the ground and Alan for the website.

Coaching:  Next meeting 25.4.05 at 7.30 at Windsor House.  Would be useful if clubs compiled a list of their coaches, levels and disciplines.  Agenda items to Karen Eccles.

Hoe 10:  St Johns Ambulance paid £200.

Half Marathon:  Marshals and other help would be appreciated.

Sports Coaches Post:  Lance Chatfield taken up this post.

Finance:  J Crockford advised we have £8,018.32 in the bank plus £12.10 cash.

Officials:  Course on Saturday at 10 am.  Could do with more people.  Let K Reed know before Saturday.  Non-exam course based on whole range of officiating.  You will qualify as Level 1 but will have to help out at a few races.

Let K Reed know if you have not received officials transfer form.

Course measurers course due to be held in May now proposed for 25.6.05 at same venue.  Two interested from this area.

Spring Warm Up:  C Carpenter – over 150 competitors.  No Plymstock children there.  Good start to the season.

AAA AGM:  Not much came out of it but the £2 fee which will go back to the South of England AGM.  ERRA now exists, formed out of AAA Road Running Committee.

Permit Secretaries’ Meeting:  Held last Saturday in Devon.  Covered a lot of issues.  Proposal to increase the unattached road runner levy from £1-£2.  This will be voted for at the SEA AGM.  50p will still go back to the counties but the rest will be ring-fenced for use within road running, which covers a whole host of things.  Was not clear where they see it going.

Formation of hubs – stated that many would go to the hub.  Questioned how ERRA support this was very sketchy.  P Ross feels some of this money will find its way to them.  Please use your proxy vote.  Could send to Chris Carter, Secretary.

Proposed changes – medical cover at road races to be revised; changes to road running rules.

Update on SW Road Running Meeting:  Only County not represented was Gloucestershire.  Thanks to Sonia Ellis for the time and effort she is putting into this.  Vehemently opposed to how ERRA was set up.  Given every county an action to take away as to how their county structure works currently.

Neil Tweedie to confirm new date and venue to put something on the calendar for inter-county championship next year.  Hoping to use Taunton 10K this year although may raise problems with Somerset officials.

Development Plan updated electronically after the meeting.

Coaching in road running being looked at.

Following on from questionnaire; we need to understand what we would need with regard to people if we were to run the hub ourselves.  The Chairman would not necessarily need an athletics background.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

J Crockford:  Forum has booked the track 6-7 on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings.  Forum member clubs are free to use the track at this time.  Other times when PAC have booked it, seek their approval to use facilities as they have booked it and paid for it.

C Carpenter highlighted a few anomalies in respect of use of the track.

M Erith:  Asked if we were going to do some winter open meets once we have a list.  P Ross will speak to P Furley about this.  N Rowe needs to go to the Council with our winter usage as early as possible.

K Reed:  UKA Conference.  P Ross congratulated Keith on his nomination for an award.  The South West did very well.  Good presentation on 2012 bid.  Encourage people to go on the website and show your support.  No decision yet on membership - 2007 at the earliest.  Schools to club links are developing.  Recruitment and retention of talented athletes – very good.  Wanting Foster Report to go ahead even if only 80% right; otherwise we will lose funding.

Ivybridge 10K – only 120 places left.

C Carpenter:  Young Athletes Trophy meet on 22.5.05.  All help appreciated.  Please encourage both athletes and helpers.  Great West Open next week.  14/15.5.05 Devon County Championships.  SEA Track and Field championship prospects healthy – 18/19.6.05 at Ashford.  Vets Track and Field Championships 6/7.8.05.

M Erith:  British Milers Club – 26.4.05 at Exeter – graded races.

F Jenkins:  Enquired whether UKA insurance covers athletes for training – no.

P Ross:  Request for hire of the clock from the Dartmoor Vale Marathon on 19.6.05.  Congratulations to K Reed for being nominated for an award at South Hams Sports Awards.  Congratulations to Joanne Harvey on her success.

Road running meeting – 25.4.05 at 7.30 pm at Exeter Harriers clubhouse.  Hoping to have representation from Devon and Cornwall Police.  Bath ½ Marathon advised they will have to pay.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING
