‘EQUITY IN YOUR COACHING’



Tuesday 14 November - 6.30-9.30pm


Cost £25.00* £5 reduction for clubs with a PCC Club Accreditation certificate

Everyone should have access to sport, regardless of gender, age, race, ability, faith or sexual orientation.

This workshop is designed for coaches and will help you to apply and extend your existing skills to meet the needs of present and potential participants.

It also explains what equity means and why it is important and identifies barriers to participation.

The above course has been organised by the Sports Development Unit and will be held at:
Windsor House, Tavistock Road, Plymouth

The course includes a resource book.

CIRCUIT TRAINING IN SALTASH

Circuit training classes, run by George Capeling and John Langhorn, take place on Friday evenings at 7.30pm at Saltash Fire Station, Callington Road, Saltash

Cost is £1 per person with free tea, coffee or squash. (50% of profits will be donated to a local charity)

There are showers and changing facilities available at the fire station and classes are expected to last about 1 1/4 hours

BRICKFIELDS 

The Brickfields running track is available for use for training by all member clubs of the  East Cornwall & West Devon Athletic Forum at the following times all year round

Track sessions are extremely beneficial to runners of all abilities This facility has been booked and paid for by the Forum so please support this opportunity 

There will be a nominal fee per session

Training is available at Brickfields track at the following times -

Tuesday Evenings 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.        (floodlit in the winter)

Saturday Mornings 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.

COACHING COURSES

     SOUTH WEST COACHING COURSES 2006 - 2007    



The Level 1 qualification will enable you to assist in coaching athletics and teaches how to coach the various events. The minimum age to attend the Level 1 is 16

The level 2 course enables coaching independently, covering an area of specialism such as sprints, throws, jumps or endurance. The level 2 course is held over 3 days, day 1 and day 2 cover the core modules and day 3 covers the specialist module. The minimum age to attend the Level 2 is 18 

The Level 3 qualification enables you to coach alone in chosen event group(s).To complete the level all 6 days have to be completed – 4 core – plus the event specific weekend. Minimum age to attend is 18.

The Children in Athletics qualification enables you to assist a level 2 or above coach in coaching children age 8-13 in fun type activities. This module can be taken as part of a level 2 course or as a stand alone module. Minimum age to attend is 14.

The Fitness in Running and Walking module enables the person to lead a group of runners or walkers and provides you with insurance cover. This module is ideal for road runners. Minimum age to attend is 16.
Having a stand alone module qualification on its own (without a supporting level 1 or 2) enables the person to lead activity under the guidance of a level 2 or above coach. 

Reserved places on course will no longer be accepted so application forms with cheques only please.

OLD RUNNING SHOES

We will collect any old running shoes that you do not want and donate them to a good cause
Many homeless and other disadvantaged people would be very grateful of your shoes that are past their best but still wearable.
Please give any unwanted shoes to Colin Bunting or Bill Phillips

 

ROAD RACE OFFICIALS WANTED

There is a shortage of active graded Road Race officials with Devon and Cornwall.
Offiicials are graded at levels A, B or C.
To become a Grade C official you just need the backing of your Club and experience in one of the following race disciplines -The Start, The Finish, The Course, General Race Admin
