VOLUNTEERING
How you can help your Club

There are many ways that you can help your Club to function and improve.

If you wish to get involved with any of the following areas please contact tamartrotters@tiscali.co.uk or speak to any committee member

1. BECOME A COACH OR GROUP LEADER

We operate 10 separate training groups on every Tuesday and Thursday evening and rely on our Group Leaders to lead the session, decide on the route and ensure that everyone gets back safely. Some of our Group Leaders take coaching courses and become qualified coaches, although this is not essential it is encouraged. The Club will pay 50% of any coaching course fees paid by people that are actively involved with the Club. Click here for a Coaching Refund Application form
To be a Group Leader all you need is some knowledge of the areas around Saltash, a friendly disposition and a willingness to help other runners.

2. BECOME A JUNIORS' LEADER

The juniors section is important to the Club and we always require willing volunteers to help lead the training sessions for the Children. There is a rota of Juniors' Leaders and each volunteer will not be asked to take their turn more than once a month. The juniors' training sessions need to be structured, safe and fun and we are always looking for new ideas for suitable training ideas. The juniors section meet at the Club on Tuesday evenings and we will soon be introducing separate training nights for juniors on the all-weather pitch at Saltmill starting in November 2008. To be a Juniors' Leader you will need to have a valid CRB disclosure. CRB checks are free for volunteers of UK Athletics affiliated Clubs.

3. WRITE DOWN SOME TRAINING ROUTES OR IDEAS FOR SESSIONS

We would like to create a portfolio of training routes and training sessions to share with other runners. Please write down your favourite speed, interval or other training session so that other Group Leaders can learn from it. OR record one or more of your regular running routes on a map so that we can get it printed, laminated and available to others.

4. HELP TO PROGRESS OUR NEW CLUBHOUSE

We have a long term goal to secure our own Clubhouse building. This is a big project and will take a lot of time to research the various funding options and accurately cost the entire project in detail. If you have any knowledge of fund raising or building estimating or costing please let us know at tamartrotters@tiscali.co.uk.  A more detailed breakdown of our requirements and a proposed layout of the new building, for costing purposes only, is shown here >>>

5. SHARE YOUR IDEAS

We really need constant feedback from our Club members to enable the committee to know what our members think and to find ways to improve. If you have any suggestions or ideas please email tamartrotters@tiscali.co.uk.
Alternatively please attend one or more of our regular Club Development meetings these meetings are intended to discuss and develop the following areas: Juniors, Coaching / Group Leaders / Running and progress on our new Club House

6. HELP AT RACES

Our Club organises three races throughout the year and is also very involved with several others. All of these events require a large group of volunteers to ensure that they run smoothly and safely. We would like to hear from anyone who is willing to help out at the occasional race, in particular these events need marshalls, time recorders and good people at registration and drinks station.

7. JOIN OUR 100 CLUB

We operate a successful 100 Club to help raise funds for the Club and give our Club Members the chance to win cash prizes. If you wish to take part in this initiative please click here>>>  for more information.
