OUR NEW CLUB HOUSE

THE LATEST NEWS

  • Apologies for the long delay since the last update. Time has been marching on but we have not been sat still. Our current situation is as follows:

    • We have identified three possible plots of land, all with different advantages and disadvantages. Two of the plots are Council owned and one is privately owned. Although we have agreement in principle to site a Clubhouse on each plot we do not yet have formal agreement and each site is subject to planning approval. There may still be other suitable plots out there and we are still looking for more.

    • Because of the uncertainty of the future usage of any plot of land we should aim for a portable type building that can be resited if necessary at any time in the future. Unfortunately this will mean that the current plans that Bill got produced will not now be suitable and new plans will be required. A new provisional layout of a single storey building, for costing purposes only, has been produced and is available to view here.

    • The next step is to produce a detailed business plan for our proposed building with all the costs identified and quantified and also all possible funding sources explored. We are holding a Club Development / Clubhouse meeting at Aston House on Monday 28th July, this meeting is open to all members. We hope that anyone from the Club who has relevant skills and experience will come along to this meeting and offer their input. After this meeting we should aim to have the business plan completed and reviewed by the second Club Development meeting on 27th October. The business plan will be suitable for use regardless of which final plot of land is decided upon. The completed business plan can then be submitted to the council etc. for formal approval, hopefully in November this year. We will also then have a clearer picture of exactly what funds we require and be able to target specific funding sources.

  • Total funds committed by Club Members so far is £12500. Those who have committed funding have not been chased at this time until we had more news on the site/plans. Once these are to hand we can sort out preferences and start the fundraising push with a more definite idea behind us - at the same time starting to look outside the Club for assistance.

  • There are several funding sources available within Cornwall. Click here for the latest list

How you can help

  1. We need to identify and quantify all costs associated with procuring, outfitting and siting a new building. If you have knowledge or contacts within the building industry and can help provide budget costings for any of the following please let us know:

  2. Attend the next Club Development meeting at Aston House on Monday 28th July. Click here for more information

  3. Please consider pledging any amount that you can easily afford to the new club house fund. Members can donate any amount that they wish - there is no set amount nor is there a minimum or maximum. For some a monthly payment might be easier, others may prefer a lump sum.

  4. If you are a business owner please consider making a donation from your business. As we are a Community Amateur Sports Club registered with HM Revenue there may be possible tax breaks in such a gift.

  5. Take part in the Tamar Trotter's 100 Club and Grand Christmas raffle. Click here for more information on the 100 Club

  6. Whenever you make a purchase online please consider buying through www.easyfundraising.org.uk . It costs nothing to log on and register. Choose 'Tamar Trotters Running Club' as the supported cause and we get a percentage of the money spent. Couldn't be easier. These are just some of the retailers that will make donations if you purchase through www.easyfundraising.org.uk

When searching for anything on the web, use "easysearch" which is an innovative 'charity search engine' where you can raise valuable extra funds for your cause just by searching online! Tamar Trotters Running Club have their very own unique search page:
    http://tamartrotters.easysearch.org.uk/

Easysearch is a new charity search engine where you can raise funds for your cause, simply by surfing the web! Powered by the world's 2nd largest search provider, easysearch works just like Google giving you fast, accurate search results every time you search online. But, unlike Google, easysearch gives you something back!

When you search using easysearch your cause will receive around a penny for every search you make. It doesn't sound like much, but the pennies soon mount up and a keen searcher can raise £25.00 a year - or more - just through their normal online searching! Easysearch is completely free to use, so this is a great way to support the Trotters - just by surfing the web as you do already! So get busy and search, search, search. Just think about it. If half the club members search regularly and raised say £15 per year for the club, this would result in around £5,000 in additional funds.

  7. Try to think of other fund raising initiatives

Many thanks for your interest in the club. Please remember that none of the above is
compulsory or indeed expected but if we all do a little bit we can achieve a lot.
